The Last Dance: End of the Regular Season

We’re into the final week of the regular season of college football. After weeks of predicting what could or could not happen, this weekend will decide who will play the Conference Finals for all Power 5 competitions. One last chance for teams to secure a spot and maybe play themselves in the play-off conversation.

2 Ohio State Buckeyes @ 3 Michigan Wolverines (6.00 PM – FOX) (MICH -3.5)

  • Star of the game: Marvin Harrison Jr. is almost a sure bet to be the first non-quarterback selected in next year’s NFL Draft, with some even arguing he could make a case for being the first pick overall. In a matchup between two of the best defenses in the country, the Buckeyes will look at their star receiver to make some big time plays.
  • Michigan O vs. Ohio State D: J.J. McCarthy has arguably established himself as the best QB in the Big 10 this season. Hower, after his hot start to the season, his production has slowed down over the last few weeks. Their running game, led by the duo Blake Corum – Donovan Edwards has also not been very consistent. The Wolverines will need to step up their game this weekend against the scary Ohio State defense. The Buckeyes have the best passing defense in the country and are yet to allow more than 17 points in a game this season.
  • Ohio State O vs. Michigan D: While this isn’t a unit that is able to put up insanely high amounts of points at will like we’ve seen from the Buckeyes in years prior, the offense doesn’t lack starpower. While the Michigan defense has been excellent so far, they will certainly struggle to get a hold of the Buckeyes WR duo TreVeyon Henderson – Marvin Harrison Jr.
  • Betting tip: It’s very difficult to say who’s going to walk out of The Big House victorious on Saturday. Because the Buckeyes are 3.5 point underdogs, Ohio State to cover seems like the best choice in this one.

Washington St Cougars @ 4 Washington Huskies (10.00 PM – FOX) (WASH -15.5)

  • Star of the game: Who else but Michael Penix Jr. The Washington QB leads the FBS in passing yards with a total of 3,695 so far, led the Huskies to the PAC-12 championship game and is undoubtedly one of the favorites to win the Heisman later this year.
  • Washington O vs. Washington St D: It just doesn’t seem realistic that the Cougars will find a way to deal with all that starpower on the Huskies offense. WR Romeo Odunze is having an amazing year and is currently ranked 5th in the nation when it comes to receiving yards. With Dillon Johnson, who sits on 879 yards at the moment, the Huskies are also dangerous on the ground.
  • Washington St O vs Washington D: The Cougars offense comes off a dominant outing against Colorado. And while the Colorado hype train already came to a standstill a couple of weeks ago, winning a game in which you were only a 4.5 point favorite by 42 points is still impressive. QB Cameron Ward clearly likes to get multiple people involved, as the Cougars have 3 receivers with over 700 yards. Keeping up with Penix Jr. and the high powered Washington offense seems however like an impossible task.
  • Betting tip: It’s looking like the Huskies will be able to score at will and with their eyes on the CFP, they’ll want to impress the committee one last time. They should therefore easily be able to cover the spread.

1 Georgia Bulldogs @ Georgia Tech Yellowjackets (01.30 AM – ABC) (UGA -24.0)

  • Star of the game: Brock Bowers is undoubtedly the star of this game. The possible best tight end to ever play in college, will have a big impact. Georgia Tech’s defense has been decent against the pass, but that is not enough…
  • Georgia O vs. Georgia Tech D: What to say about this? A top four offense facing off against a defense that has actually been awful against the run and just decent against the pass. The only thing going here for the Yellow Jackets is the momentum they have and their home field advantage. They cracked bowl eligibility last week and are still living on a cloud.
  • Georgia Tech O vs. Georgia D: This is the bright side for Georgia Tech! Haynes King has been good for them and Jamal Haynes (RB) is the player with the most offensive yards as a non-QB. He can try to attack the “weak spot” of the Bulldogs defense. If you can actually say that..
  • Betting tip: Georgia Tech +24 (1.94). Let’s call this wishful thinking. As some of us will be attending this game we are hoping for it to be close!
